BAPTISMS
Baptism is traditionally the start of our journey of faith, a journey which can begin at any age. In the Church of England most baptisms take place at a very young age but there is no upper age limit, and adult baptism is increasingly common.

Here at Stand we normally carry out the service on a Sunday morning after our other services. If you are not regular church goers you might find the thought of all this a bit daunting, but we think you will be surprised just how welcoming and enjoyable the baptism service is. Baptism is not just about the person being baptised [especially as most of the time they are too young to understand] so we try to involve everyone in the service and usually everyone enjoys it!

Godparents
Parents and Godparents have a very important part to play in baptism, and you will be called upon to make some serious promises. A Godparent is someone who will accompany your child on their journey of faith and that is why they too must be baptised. Godparents don’t have to be regular church goers, but they should be someone who will provide your child with a good example and befriend to them throughout their life. This is a long-term commitment. When you choose your Godparents think carefully about what you expect from them, not just on the day or at birthdays and Christmas. What example will they provide for your child? Will the people you choose be in your lives in ten or twenty years time? If you want to know more or book a date please get in touch.
